INCI
Buxus chinensis oil.
Characteristic
Jojoba oil features excellent absorbency leaving skin Satin after application. Jojoba oil has a natural UV factor 4, regenerates, softens, loosens and maintains natural skin moisture.
Physical properties
A golden-yellow liquid wax with practically no aroma. Setting point:
Approx. +120 С relative density at +20° C: approx. 0.864 g per cm3.
Basic constituent parts
Waxes from long-chain (18-22) fatty acids and alcohols; fatty acids, mainly gadoleic acid (C 20:1) at approximately 70%, erucoic acid (C 22:1) at approximately 15%, and oleic acid (C 18:1) at approximately 12%. Also contains vitamins and lecithin.
Properties
Given its chemical properties, this oil does not turn rancid. The pure wax has a UV factor of around 4. Has regenerative effects. Stabilises moisture in the skin.
Use
Suitable as all types of skin, and particularly for dry, sensitive, and acned skin. Spreads well and does not leave a shine on the skin, but a silky matte. Recommended as an exclusive ingredient in massage, regenerative, and tanning preparations. The skin is highly elastic during massage and the oil has a good „slipperiness” so the muscle stays supple and loose. Also suitable as the base for hair packs.
Note
The commonly-used label of jojoba „oil” is chemically inaccurate given its chemical components since this is a liquid wax.
